Post Trip Review

Lesson 18

Where did I go? What did I do?Most importantly, why?

In this review I break it all down, to include some very interesting things learned about bottom structure and speckled trout.

  • BobR says:

Do you think tides in the eastern marsh (Bob’s Lakes for example) more closely follow the Shell beach tides or Grand Pass?

  • mescotis says:

Tried what I have learned here. Went to a spot that looked good on Google earth in Biloxi Marsh. Limit of Specs in less than 2 hours last Friday between 9:30 and 11:30. Thanks for the lessons.

  • Devin says:

Boom! My work here is done! Thank you for posting this.

  • Devin says:

Which Grand Pass? There’s like 1000 of them in Louisiana. lol

  • bboudreaux1969 says:

Yeah we got on them pretty good last weekend on the falling tide right in the same place in lake marron

  • BobR says:

The one near Isle Aux Pitre. There is a tide station there.

  • Devin says:

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

Probably Grand Pass, since it’s closer.

But it’s really not that simple, Bob.

If you’re fishing marsh that is closer to Lake Borgne, then you’re fishing water that is probably more influenced by Lake Borgne.

    Same goes for Grand Pass.

Do you know how you ultimately know?

    By launching the boat.

Nothing beats TOW and, honestly, spitballing tides never got anybody anywhere.

Because what if the water at your fishing spot was doing something differently?

Rolling with the punches is the best way to fish.

Rarely do plans survive contact with Mother Nature.

Hey Devin, quick tip you might already be aware of it, and you might like GMT, but you can change the NOAA chart to display in local time. click that “timezone” drop box down and pick “LST/LDT.” That will put you in local standard time and factor in Daylight saving time area.

  • Devin says:

Keith, you are genius! LOL How did I never notice that?! How?!?! Thank you so much lol

  • Peteguillot says:

The information contained in this one trip series is worth the annual membership fee. Excellent value. Thank you. I will say it again, this is as valuable to the inshore fisherman as a SeaTow membership.

  • Devin says:

Thanks, Pete! Made my weekend reading this!
