Avoid Bug Bites Without Harmful Chemicals

This is the best way to keep those horrible little monsters off your skin.

Avon Skin So Soft with Bug Guard Plus

It was an early morning at Breton Sound Marina and the wind was hardly blowing. I knew what was going to be waiting for me out in the marsh and I was dreading it: an army of gnats ready to bite me to death!

But when I walked into the marina I discovered something that could help me fight back.

The Best Bug Repellent

Saying "good morning" to the cashier, I overheard a conversation about bug spray.

Without missing a beat Karen, the cashier, piped in and recommended a product on display. She claimed it was the best bug repellent they had yet.

This captured my attention for a couple reasons; a lot of people tout their product as being the best in keeping those awful gnats away.

You know what I'm talking about: differing amounts of DEET, special formulas, fragrance and even complete suits!

Sometimes you'd be going down the bayou and see someone donning one of these and wonder if there was another oil spill.

But this is a completely different product, named Avon Skin So Soft with Bug Guard Plus and SPF 30 Skin Lotion.

I'm not one to jump on a bandwagon, so I was a little skeptical as I purchased a small bottle. What did I have to lose?

Field Testing Avon Skin So Soft with Bug Guard Plus

It's the height of the gnat season, with the weather being warm enough

The winds were predicted to be less than five knots, the weather was warm and it was the height of gnat season; a perfect day to try out Skin So Soft.

I lathered a good bit of the lotion onto my exposed arms, face and neck before setting off down Bayou La Loutre.

The Results

I positioned the boat in my favorite fishing spot, cast a line and began putting decent speckled trout into the boat.

Five minutes later, the trout were not the only ones trying to bite.

Redfish? Nope. Sheephead? Nope. Gnats? They wanted to!

Yes, they were flying around me, but they were not biting. Avon Skin So Soft with Bug Bug Guard Plus worked better than Victoria's Secret "Amber Bromance", baby oil or even regular Skin So Soft.

Plus I didn't smell of insect repellant like Off! or similar name brands. I was ecstatic! I did find that you occasionally need to re-apply theAvon Skin So Soft with Bug Guard Plus.

No problem there.

Fishing is all about the experience, and this product is going to help me have a better one when chasing those speckled trout and redfish.
